IRCDB 1.0 Concept
INTRO-
Ircdb (Internet Relay Chat Database system) is a system that I (hobofuzz) developed originally as an MIRC add-on. IRCDB will hopefully make running IRC networks easier and more secure. I don’t know any programming languages, so I am hoping to have others help me with the project. The main purpose is help aid in investigations towards dos'ers, packeters, script kiddies, etc.
What is IRCDB?-
Ircdb is a database system that I intend to have integrated into services. The Ircdb system will store all information about the users, channels, and operators that will help keep the network more secure, hopefully help prevent dos attacks, and give the administrators more control over the network. I am hoping to come to a consensus on what data should be recorded. After creating the SQL stuff, a front end should be created for Linux (Maybe windows too) that will make sense of the data. Most everything will be based on decisions from the open-source community and the IRC community. I am trying to create a standard for IRCDB.
Is the data secure?-
It should be. When the SQL database is created, the administrator of the network must create an account. The IRCDB cannot be viewed without logging in. Encryption may also be implemented, but that’s far down the road. Additional accounts may also be created.
